I admit that I use the term ‘racist’ loosely.

In the past i’ve said that my android phone is racist against emojis and that Instagram is racist against Twitter. Aside from it simply being humorous to me, it points out the absurdity of an entity choosing not to operate alongside of another…

This is a post by Open Mike Eagle that outlines a situation that, as a white rapper, I have been unfortunate enough to benefit from (weird group of words, I know).

When I’m setting up shows and I’m trying to involve women and people of color, this is why. I know there’s no “proof” that this move is anti-PoC (except if you live on Earth and are a social person who has dealt with subtly racist venue owners before. Heh) and is more anti-rap but…yeah, no.

For anyone who cares, I’m going to make a follow up blog of my own about how the intersection of race/rap and venue owners who don’t have a clue puts in an awkward position those of us who are not keen on getting a leg up because of our race (vs. our skillz WHICH I HAVE IN ABUNDANCE I ASSURE YOU) with their white guy wink-wink-nudge-nudge shit.
