Would you Chip-In to send me to PAX Prime and be on a panel about sexism and homophobia in nerd music:
So, it breaks my heart to do this but I think it’s important. I was invited to be on a panel at PAX Prime regarding misogyny and homophobia in nerd music (the panel will have a snappier title, to be sure) and I’m absolutely SCREWED for money right now. I think anyone who knows me realizes that I would normally pay out of pocket for this in a heartbeat.
As it stands, I’m probably the only person on the panel as an ally who is adamant about pointing out the problems with this and how it drives talented women and LGBTQ folks away from the scene (as it does in all scenes), so I guess what I’m hoping for is that you’d find this important enough, and trust me enough, to help me deliver the “what you say actually matters even if you’re a straight d00d” message on the other side of the country to quite a few people. Any amount helps A LOT.
